The "RS" designation has always made the hearts of Porsche connoisseurs beat faster. Models like the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 of 1972 and the 911 RS Type 964 (1991) were characterized by an extremely high degree of agility and driving dynamics. The 911/997 GT3 RS continues this tradition. Like its predecessors, it served as the base and homologation model for use in various racing series. Porsche presented the new GT3 RS in October 2006, which offers the performance and unfiltered driving experience of a racing car while simultaneously meeting all the requirements for road approval.

The exceptionally high-revving engine develops 305 kW (415 hp) at 7,600 rpm from a displacement of 3.6 liters. Maximum engine speed is reached at 8,400 rpm. Thanks to a close-ratio six-speed transmission with a single-mass flywheel and a 20-kilogram reduction in vehicle weight, the engine revs even more spontaneously, enabling the 911 GT3 RS to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The top speed is 310 km/h.
