Beschreibung

The Mercedes Benz 170S Drophead was a luxury convertible produced by the German automaker from 1949 to 1953. The car was based on the 170S sedan, which had been introduced in 1949, and was designed to appeal to the growing number of affluent consumers who were looking for a more stylish and luxurious driving experience.

The 170S Drophead featured a sleek and elegant body design that was reminiscent of classic European sports cars of the era. It was powered by a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine that produced 52 horsepower and could reach a top speed of around 80 miles per hour.

One of the most notable features of the 170S Drophead was its convertible top, which could be lowered or raised manually in just a few minutes. This made it an ideal car for drivers who wanted to enjoy the open road on a sunny day, or who needed to quickly shelter themselves from inclement weather.

Despite its relatively modest power output, the 170S Drophead was a highly refined and sophisticated automobile. It was one of the first cars to feature a fully synchronized four-speed transmission, which made shifting gears a smooth and effortless process. It also came equipped with a range of luxurious amenities, such as leather upholstery, wood-trimmed dashboard, and a radio.

The 170S Drophead remained in production until 1953, when it was replaced by the Mercedes Benz 220S Cabriolet. However, it remains a beloved classic car among collectors and enthusiasts today, thanks to its timeless styling and innovative engineering.

This excellent example has been in the same family since 1970’s and has been totally restored in the early years of ownership.

The history is impeccable and well supported to verify the outstanding condition of the car, which has been totally pampered all of its well-used life.

The car has witnessed some great Swiss touring events and is well known withing the rally world and competing with the best.

A great all-round example of what a Mercedes Benz 170S Drophead should look, drive and handle like, one NOT to miss.
