FIAT Classic Cars for Sale

The name Fiat is an acronym of Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino ("Italian Automobile Factory Turin"). The company was founded in 1899 by eight founding members.

Fiat company history

In 1899 the Italian car manufacturer Turin began to produce cars on a small scale; only 20 units of the first model 3 1/2HP were manufactured. In 1903 Fiat also began to export its cars abroad, especially to France and England, and later to the United States. The former annual production was 134 copies. The Fiat S74 won the Grand Prix of America and thus made Fiat gain popularity. The first mass production began in 1912 with the Fiat Zero, where the production process had been significantly optimized to reduce the production time, cost and effort to a minimum. A revolutionary sales coup with the launch of the Fiat 509 was the credit sale, which accelerated mass mobilization significantly. Meanwhile, Fiat was a subsidiary of the Fiat Group, which also included Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati.

Fiat classic cars

The Fiat 500, also known as the Cinquecento, is not just a Fiat classic, but an undisputed classic of the automotive world, which has been produced in many different versions from 1936 to the present day. Since then and until the current model Fiat 500L, the Fiat 500 has always been the entry-level model and the smallest car of Fiat. From the very first Fiat 500 "Topolino ", to the Nuova and finally the Cinquecento, most sought-after classic cars belong to the Fiat 500 series. The European Car of the Year 1967 was the Fiat 124 which was equipped with engines with about 60-128 hp and which quickly became a popular success. The indirect successor of the Fiat 124 was the Fiat Spider, which today has a legendary status - with own fan clubs and great supporters. Despite the high performance, the sporty looks and the robust design, the Fiat Spider had a pretty reasonable purchase price of less than 6000 Euro. The stylish look of the Fiat classic cars make’s many collectors’ hearts beat faster and made these cars become popular collectibles and perfect cars for classic car meetings and trips.

The Fiat logo

The Fiat logo has gone through many changes throughout the years. In almost all logo variations an Art Nouveau lettering is used with a bevelled A. Adrian Frutiger introduced the hash key, which was again replaced by a classic logo which itself was inspired by the motif that is strongly reminiscent of the logo of the sport models from 1965 to 1985.
