Dodge Classic Cars for Sale

The brothers John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge began their career in the automotive industry as suppliers and financial supporters of the young Ford brand. The first cars carrying the name Dodge were produced in 1914 and aimed to serve the needs of the middle class

Dodge changing with the times

Through the manufacture of ball-bearings and similar parts, the Dodge brothers were exposed to the automotive industry quite early, as these parts were required by companies such as Ford for the production of cars. The commercial successes of the first models 30 to 35 laid the groundwork for the success story of Dodge. From 1917 onwards, Dodge manufactured mid-sized trucks for the forces of the American Army, followed up by trucks for civil use after the war. After Dodge bought by Dillon and Read in 1925, it was sold to the Chrysler Group, to which the company still belongs today, only three years later. The oil crisis hit the company hard as its cars were huge and overpowered. The losses in revenue resulted in a rethinking and adjustment of the product portfolio.

Classic Dodge cars

A car that every classic Dodge  fan is familiar with is the Dodge Challenger, available in many versions on the American and European markets since 1969. The Challenger is based on a design by Carl Cameron, who had already been responsible for the distinctive look of the Dodge Charger. Less sporty, but equipped with a truck bed, the Dodge D-series was in production from 1961 to 1980. This is the Dodge pickup series whose name was later changed to Dodge Ram in 1980. Most models of the D-series were high-powered V8 utility vehicles, that enjoyed everyday usage because of the low gas prices of the era. The fascination for such high-powered vehicles, the stylish design and the love for American sports and utility vehicles make these classic Dodge sought after collector’s items

The Dodge logo

The Dodge logo has seen many changes over the years. When the company was founded in 1914, it featured a world map with the letters D and B, framed by the words “Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles”. After the takeover by Chrysler, the logo was changed into the world-famous ram that is supposed to symbolize stability and maximal force. The brands slogan is “Grab your life by the horns”.
