Description
The impetus for Volkswagen to build a van came from the Dutch general importer Ben Pon senior. He sketched out a closed van with a rear engine. Thus was born the famous VW van and bus. The idea of using a bus for leisure, hobbies and fun with friends gained cult status with the design of the special model “Microbus Deluxe”.
According to the VW Foundation AutoMuseum Wolfsburg, our VW Type 2 T1 “Microbus Deluxe” was delivered in San Francisco in September 1964. An original number plate and the Title County of Honolulu indicate the place of use. Back in Germany, the bus was carefully restored with the type-correct replacement engine it already had. In 2015, the classic car received its operating permit in Germany. The current owner has moved the classic regularly. Enjoy this way of life with the “Microbus Deluxe”.
