Description

1957 Coral red (L351) oval bug loaded with accessories – Oldspeed The car was found in a residential area in California at the end of the 90s. At some point in its life it was resprayed in a white colour. When the car arrived in the Netherlands, the then owner resprayed the car in the original colour. The paint is now +20 years old but all in all it still looks very good. Please note, the car is not new but has been used. Over the past two years, the car has been completely technically refined and converted into an Oldspeed. No expense or effort was spared. Enginewise, a reconditioned 30hp engine was tuned by means of a Riechert Kit with 2x 28pci carburetors, Fram filter, Okrasa style oil cooler, Bosch 010 converted to electronic ignition, 12V 38amp dynamo, IMI High Torque starter, Abarth style exhaust, ... In combination with a long Rancho gearbox, the car easily keeps up with modern traffic. The engine was tuned on a roller bench and delivers 38hp and 83nm torque. Stopping is also flawless by means of a CSP disc brake set at the front and type 3 brake drums at the rear (for ideal brake balance). The car is lowered a little at the front by a non-narrowed adjustable front axle. The wiring harness was completely tuned and the engine was equipped with a 12V 38amp 90mm dynamo so that driving with windscreen wipers on and lights and fog lights and charging the smartphone (through a 12v plug hidden in the glove compartment) and ... is no problem at all. The rear lights were replaced by LED for safety. With all these technical adjustments, the car was inspected at a Belgian inspection station with much praise and without comments. For the interior, beige mats were made, which can also be found in the trunk. The red interior completes the combination here. Under the dashboard we find a Kamei-inspired petrol lever. The original gear lever was equipped with a WASO anti-theft lock. The range of accessories continues on the dashboard with a Butler reading lamp, flower vase, radio (not connected), and an AAC rev counter. On top of the rear view mirror a mirror cover was fitted and a clock based on the well-known Kienzle mirror clocks. At the front a set of Marshal fog lamps were placed, which were sprayed in L351, on a new set of stainless steel export bumpers (front and rear). At the rear Wegu mud flaps were mounted and the car is equipped with a convertible tailgate. In the past year the car has driven many kilometers (or miles) to events such as Freddyfiles in Ninove (where the car won Best of Oldspeed), Vintage meeting in Kemmel, EBI in Chimay, … As icing on the cake the car was featured in Airmighty Magazine.
