Description

This fabulous 1959 TR3A comes to us with a genuine 59,000 miles on the clock and just 2 owners, the first being a Mr Disney of Los Angeles, California who purchased the car new as a LHD export model and owned it until 1975 when it was taken off the road for reasons unknown. Rediscovered in 2008 by a British resident of California, the car was purchased and driven sparingly until it was imported back to the UK by him in 2020 where, due to other priorities, it has sat in dry storage ever since. Now recommissioned, UK registered (plate 219 XVM and log-book stating 0 former keepers) and back on the road it’s a delightful and essentially original example of this iconic ‘50s roadster. Having spent most of the last 65 years in sunny southern California it is free of rust and appears to have had no substantive works carried out since new with the exception of a respray, interior retrim and purchase of a new hood a couple of years before coming back to the UK. We have treated the car to a basic recommission following its lay-up for the last few years. This has included an overhaul of the carburettors, overhaul of the cooling system including a new thermostat, radiator cap etc., clean and rebuild of the braking system which has also included new front brake hoses and a new master cylinder, and a regrease of the steering system components. The car starts on the button and settles to a nice healthy idle. It pulls very well throughout the range with no drama with good shifts across the 4-speed gearbox and comes to a positive halt courtesy of the refreshed brakes. Inside is classic ‘50s. All gauges are original – including the temp gauge displaying markings in Fahrenheit as required for the original US owner - and everything appears to be in good working order. The trim is in great condition in black with white piping and comes complete with a good hood ready for British country driving! A rare opportunity to own a genuine low-mileage, low-owner TR3 in great usable condition. Comes with original US Ownership Certificate, import documentation including NOVA confirmation and newly issued V5C logbook. Priced to sell!
