The Rootes Group, wonderful! Typically the kind of British conglomerate that looking back was obviously going to be heading for the cliffs in the not so distant future. Rootes had managed to bankrupted itself with the development of the Hillman Imp. In 1971 Chrysler Motor C0. was waiting impatiently in the wings to pick up the pieces of the once so successful conglomerate. In 1965 however all that seemed to be far off into the future and Sunbeam was busy selling the Alpine series 4. Our Alpine Series 4 is in wonderful condition. The car has recently been fully restored. The Alpine was taken back to its constituent parts, perfectly smoothed out and completely rebuilt. The final result does not disappoint. The bodywork is in very fine shape with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. The very well re-sprayed paintwork is totally unmarked. The interior trim has been fully reupholstered, leaving us with nicely fitted carpets and fine seat coverings. They used black vinyl for the seats and door cards which remain pristine. The hood and tonneau cover fit snuggly and are also in pristine condition. The very neat dashboard has all its instruments and controls in good working order. The Alpine has a 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine coupled to a manual 4-speed gearbox. The engine runs very smoothly and the gearbox change is nice and precise. The 82 Ps allows the fine chassis to be optimally put through its paces. The Sunbeam Alpine is a delicious sporty convertible with a lovely road-holding character. The photos demonstrate the Sunbeam’s excellent condition both top and bottom. So if you are looking for a Sunbeam Alpine that only needs you as a driver to complete the picture, then we have just the car for you!
