Compact, sporty and without compromise – the 2018 Roos Meanie 2.0 Turbo

A wild outsider that shows that true strength does not always lie in sheer size. This compact powerhouse combines raw driving pleasure, design and the precision of a modern turbo engine – a machine that impresses with character and performance in equal measure.

The idea behind the development of the Meanie 2.0 Turbo began in 2012 as part of inventor Raffael Heierli’s bachelor’s thesis at the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (Switzerland). With the financial support of entrepreneur Walter Frey, owner of the Emil Frey Group, the vehicle was developed then built as a prototype and approved under EU regulations for small series production. Two companies within the Emil Frey Group, Emil Frey Classics AG and Roos Engineering AG, subsequently built a limited series of five vehicles, which was completed in 2018. The vehicle was presented to the public for the first time at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The Meanie is a mid-engine sports car powered by an in-line four-cylinder engine with direct injection and turbocharger from Volkswagen. The chassis consists of a specially developed tubular frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel.

In its interior, the Meanie favours a fusion of sportiness and practicality. The deeply contoured bucket seats offer firm support, while the compact sports steering wheel sits comfortably in the hand. The minimalist dashboard creates a cockpit-like atmosphere that directs the driver’s focus to the road. Modern features such as an infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control and digital instruments ensure comfort without diluting the purist character.
