Description

1965 Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet

  • Spectacular, no expense spared show quality restoration

  • Rare and Highly desiderabile SC

  • One of approximately 1738 Built

  • Final, most refined version of the 356

The 356 SC is certainly the definitive version of an iconic and important car both for the Porsche factory and for the automotive panorama of the time, benefiting from over fifteen years of technical evolution.
The powerful power-to-weight ratio with its 95 horsepower and four disc brakes immediately make the previous version look ten years older, and give the possibility of using a 356 with the same grit and ease that can be appreciated in the first 911s. The low production number gives it the status of a special model that Porsche is so keen on today with limited edition models produced in much higher numbers.
According to the Porsche certificate, this 356 was released in 1965 for the German domestic market, with the color specification Irish grün and black leather upholstery. Today the car is presented in its original Irish grün color but for the upholstery a beige leather was chosen.
After an initial unknown period, the car was purchased in the 90s in the Canary Islands and underwent an initial restoration (the whole process documented), It is thought that during that period the engine was replaced because it was too deteriorated and an engine of the same type and series (KD numbers) from 1965 was mounted, not far from the original numbering, repainting and opting for a pastel blue colour and subsequently used daily, especially in the summer.
Bought by us in 2017 as a restoration project, it was subjected to a total disassembly, a water stripping and a total sheet metal work, all body parts (hoods-doors) correspond to the car body numbers. Subsequently, the entire mechanical part was overhauled like the gearbox and the chassis rolling installing a stainless steel exhaust all documented photographically.
The bodywork has been repainted in its original Irish grün and the upholstery redone in beige leather which gives it an ideal and period-compliant match, all making this EU market 356 SC a completely renewed car, all documented by a photographic book containing over 400 photographs.
The car subsequently from end of 2018 found a custodian in nearby Austria who preserved the car in his collection in virtually unaltered condition, adding a few hundred to the odometer.
Today the car is presented in new conditions from a restoration carried out, it has travelled just 1000km, it has recently undergone a general service (oil - braking system - and tightening of the bolts) to guarantee perfect efficiency, it is accompanied by its photographic book of the restoration, the Porsche certification and its complete tool bag.
