Description

“Great cars are not created by committees.”

The Porsche 356. The car that started it all for Porsche. Ferdinand Porsche Sr. designed the iconic Volkswagen Beetle in 1931, but it was his son, Ferry Porsche, who in 1939 laid the foundation for a true revolution on wheels: the Porsche 356.

Initially borrowing from Volkswagen, the technology was soon thoroughly reworked by Porsche. The engine, gearbox, interior, and steering were all improved with German precision. And then... there was light. In 1948, the first prototypes came to life, and the world was never the same again.

The new Porsches sold like hotcakes, and why not? With aerodynamics that made the air blush, handling that embraced the road like an old friend, and build quality that could make a tank jealous, the 356 impressed everyone. And the best part? It was a car for everyday use. The basic principles of Porsche, to this day.

Ours? Exactly what you’d expect. Since 2003, she has been here in the Netherlands and has only seen the light of day in good weather. She has been inspected, pampered, and maintained at Porsche Centrum Gelderland and is ready to hit the road immediately.

So, fasten your seatbelt, start the engine, and feel the echo of the big bang that became Porsche. This is not just driving, this is driving a Porsche.

“In 1948, Mr. Porsche decided any car that merely got you from here to there just didn’t go far enough.”
