A copy of an accompanying Kardex sheet lists this Porsche 356 A for delivery in February 1959 to the cars first owner, Captain JC Dixon, from Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Leaving the factory finished in Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior, this Coupé was generously specified and powered by the 1600 Super all-alloy, air-cooled, flat-four engine fed by two Zenith downdraft carburetors for a power output of 75 horsepower.

The Porsche is believed to have stayed in the USA for most of its life, having been based in California come May 2013, before making the trip back across the Atlantic to Germany in July 2015. Bought six years later by the well-known Porsche specialist Jensen Classics by Underberger in Kufstein, Austriaand set for the full restoration that followedthe 356 was then acquired by the consigning owner before the car was registered in Germany in October 2023. Presented in its factory-correct colour scheme, the car notably retains its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and gearbox. It is further complemented by a Sebring exhaust system, three-spoke steering wheel, bucket seats as found in the Carrera and Speedster models, a set of highly desirable centre-locking Rudge wheels, plus owners guides and tool kit.

This smartly presented 356 A would be ideally suited to participating in classic car rallies, touring, and club gatherings as well as entering concours events.
