Description
Insanely beautiful Morgan +8 with an extensive history. Restored in the Netherlands by Fiete van der Grinten, who is known as an excellent restorer of British classic cars. At S and S tuning, the V8 has been overhauled and the car perfectly maintained for years. It comes with stacks of service invoices and photos of the overhaul.
The Morgan +8 was one of the fastest British sports cars when it was introduced in 1968 and has since become an icon.
This Morgan was delivered new to Germany and was owned by a German owner for 24 years. In 1999, the car was purchased by a Dutch enthusiast who had the Morgan extensively restored and serviced. He owned the car until 2006, when the +8 moved to Belgium. The +8 now belongs to the third owner and is once again in the Netherlands. The exterior is very beautiful and a fortune has been spent in the past to keep the Morgan in this condition. The Morgan has been repainted in the iconic 'British racing green' colour and the quality of the paintwork is of a high standard. The doors hang properly and close perfectly. According to all the maintenance invoices, a complete restoration has taken place.
The interior is also in very good condition. The seats have been reupholstered and covered in new black leather. They sit very well and look very nice. The left seat shows some signs of use. You sit comfortably behind the Moto Lita wooden steering wheel, with the small gear lever within easy reach. The view across the long bonnet, with all the cooling slots and headlights, is superb anyway, and as far as driving is concerned, the unfiltered sound of the rebuilt V8 is a thrill and you feel everything because you are open and exposed inside the car.
The Rover gearbox is very direct and quiet, as is the locking differential. Thanks to the Koni dampers on the rear axle, the Morgan is much firmer and the suspension has become slightly less stiff. Introducing this lightweight 8-cylinder in a Morgan in 1968 was a brilliant decision. The engine has an excellent reputation and has been used for over 40 years in many iconic British cars such as the Rover 3500, the first Range Rover and the MGB V8. The Morgan weighs just 900kg and its 143bhp output makes it a pleasure to drive.
