Description

The chosen one..

Imagine being a beautiful SL and ending up in the private collection of a Mercedes–Benz dealer. Then you have done well as a classic car and you must feel a bit chosen. That happened to this beautiful 300 SL R107. It is an EU version that was registered on March 28, 1986 and ended up in Belgium. Here we can trace two owners and the necessary documentation including the Carpass that recorded the mileage. This shows that the current 98693 km is original. To be honest, you can see that easily, because it can be called very original. Never welded or restored, which is of course very exceptional for a car that is 39 years old. But we are talking about a solid Mercedes. And one that has apparently been very well taken care of by its owners. Also take a look at the photos of the immaculate underside: a feast for the technical eye. Some parts of the car has been, for cosmetic reasons, repainted in the original Signal Red colour,  and that has been done neatly. The car is also completely original on the inside and we are sitting on lovely seats, upholstered with the well-known MB-Tex in the colour Mushroom.

Perhaps superfluous, but we would like to emphasise that the car has matching numbers and is well documented.

The car has been in the Netherlands since 2020 and is currently part of a large private collection of a Mercedes-Benz dealer. We have been asked to sell the majority of the collection for the well-known reasons, lack of space and too little use by the owner. And we should not have that of course because it is clear that this 300 SL drives great. In terms of use, the car can show its qualities in any circumstance and season. As a full convertible, with the black soft top closed or as a beautiful coupe when the beautiful hardtop is mounted. We always find it difficult to choose what is actually the most beautiful. All three combinations are great to see.

The fact is that the car can bring a lot of pleasure to the owner and the passenger, because in terms of appearance, the smooth running of the 3-liter 6-cylinder engine connected to a fantastic shifting 5-speed manual gearbox in combination with the well-known high reliability, is a joy to have at your disposal. A truly carefree classic that can also be driven very well as a second car, and it is certainly not a struggle to drive long distances with it. Every kilometer is a joy.

Would you like to help reduce the collection of the Mercedes-Benz dealer? Then you would do well to make an appointment with us and come and assess how an above-average Mercedes-Benz 300 SL should look and drive.
