Description

This 280 SL Pagoda in moss green, which is now on sale, was first registered in Germany in October 1970. Three years later, the Pagoda was acquired by its second owner who kept the SL for no less than 28 years before selling it to the current owner in 2001. Thus the Pagoda has been in third ownership for the past 22 years.

The first owner had to have the engine replaced after 3 years at 42,999 km for unknown reasons. Therefore, he got an exchange engine from Mercedes-Benz with the same engine number and an exchange unit plate incl. maintenance booklet in 1973. The second owner decided to have the car repainted in its original colour to regain the colourfulness of the car. In 2007, in the care of the third owner, the soft top was renewed by a specialist by the name of Hanika. Otherwise the car is completely original and in a slightly patinated condition.

The Pagoda has the original service book which was stamped exclusively by Mercedes. The first and original (cardboard cover) vehicle registration document is present as well as the original data card. The car was appraised in 2017 with the grade 2+ and a replacement value of 115.000,00 €. A current appraisal would certainly be higher.

It is an all-around convincing collector's item, which also cuts a fine figure on the road - the perfect companion for the summer.

History of the series

The top model of the SL series W 113 produced 170 hp from its 2.8 l displacement. As the successor to the 190 SL series, it fulfilled the wishes of many customers for more power and comfort. Due to the smooth running of the large in-line six-cylinder engine, the Pagoda also offered exceptionally good cruising qualities, making it a pleasant companion on rallies & trips. The safety measures, which were new and trend-setting for the time, ensure a relaxed feeling. These included a defused interior without corners and edges, seat belts as special equipment and defined crumple zones. The designation "pagoda" was given to it by the vernacular, as the concave roof resembles temples from the Far East - pagodas, in fact. Yet the shape was originally intended rationally as an improvement in the amount of space available.

The vehicle is located in our showroom in Stuttgart-Plieningen, close to the airport/trade fair. A test drive and an inspection on the car lift are possible by arrangement.

The sale takes place on request with new inspection, service and TÜV. We also offer a wide range of accessories for your new dream car. If required, we can also deliver the vehicle to you in a closed trailer.

Opening hours: Mon - Sat by appointment
