Description

This exclusive Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 coupé (W111), once an experimental vehicle from the renowned Daimler company, has a fascinating history. Built in 1968, it was one of the first 280 SE W111 models to benefit from a facelift. This facelift included significant changes to the hood, radiator and drive. The introduction of the new, impressive 3.5-liter engine in conjunction with the flatter radiator today marks the most desirable version within the W111 series.

The documents prove that this extraordinary Mercedes served as a demonstration car to draw the attention of potential buyers to the sophistication of the model upgrade. This is confirmed by the internal production order from the Daimler test department, a valuable document included in the vehicle's documentation.

In respect of its importance as a test vehicle, a certificate of authenticity was issued by the renowned company Kukuk, which classifies the W111 as an original test vehicle. The completely new paintwork and the technically flawless condition underline the care that was given to this vehicle.

Its history as a test vehicle makes this car an absolutely unique specimen that is of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts. Its uniqueness, coupled with its documented history, gives this Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 W111 an inestimable value that goes far beyond its technical specifications. For enthusiasts who share a fascination for rare automotive heritage, this car is a true gem waiting to be passed into loving hands.

**History of the Series
**
The Mercedes 280 SE 3.5 has always been referred to as the top model of the W 111 series, which was produced between 1959 and 1971. Both the convertible and the coupé are top-class vehicles with style and elegance.

It took ten years before a V8 engine was installed in the W 111 series. With a displacement of 3499 cm³, it produced an astonishing 200 hp on the road. However, the car was not only optimized technically, but also visually. The front end was given a flatter hood and a lower radiator grille - which also gave rise to the designations "high & flat radiator".

The flat radiators (and therefore also our W 111) are considered the most desirable variant today. These vehicles are also particularly valuable due to their low production numbers. Just 3270 of the 280 SE 3.5 Coupé were produced between 1969 and 1971.
The vehicle is located in our showroom in Stuttgart-Plieningen, close to the airport/trade fair. A test drive and an inspection on the car lift are possible by arrangement.

The sale takes place on request with new inspection, service and TÜV. We also offer a wide range of accessories for your new dream car. If required, we can also deliver the vehicle to you in a closed trailer.
