The elegant W111 from Mercedes-Benz was introduced in 1959 and encompassed many variants until the end of production in 1971. Among the most sought-after models were the two-door versions, the last hand-built cars from Mercedes-Benz in the tradition of German craftsmanship. The luxurious interior projected quality, with solid wood finishes, tasteful chrome accents, and leather upholstery that was thick and stylish. The driving experience and handling were a constant reminder of the excellent craftsmanship. It is not surprising that these cars quickly became favorites among celebrities and important figures, often seen in the most luxurious destinations worldwide.
This is a beautiful, originally German-delivered Mercedes-Benz W111 220SE Cabriolet (Type W111.203) with the rare four-speed manual transmission and matching numbers. The car has only driven 108,422 kilometers and is still in very original and good condition. This Mercedes is finished in the timelessly beautiful combination of "green and tan," in this case, Dunkelgrün with a gorgeous brown leather interior and a black convertible top. The simple fact that the car is in stunning original condition and has a manual transmission makes this a highly desirable example.
The body looks magnificent and has clearly been cherished. The sheet metal is still in excellent condition, and the various body parts have very nice fittings. The paint has been resprayed once for cosmetic reasons and still looks beautiful. The convertible top is easy to operate and fits nicely everywhere. The car sits on the original steel wheels with hubcaps that are partially chromed and partially painted in the color of the car.
The interior is completely original. The wood near the windshield is still in very good condition and looks well cared for. The seats are just as comfortable as other seats in Mercedes-Benz cars from this period and in the higher segment. The carpets are in good condition and fit beautifully everywhere. The instruments and controls all function as they should and look beautiful. The interior also shows that the previous owners took very good care of the car.
The car is powered by the indestructible M270 inline-six, which in this case is 2.2 liters and delivers 118 hp. The engine is wonderfully smooth and runs beautifully. A quick glance at the Datenkarte that comes with the car shows that this car still has the original engine. This is therefore a matching numbers car. The four-speed manual transmission fits very well with the torquey character of the inline-six and the relaxed driving behavior of the 220SE Cabriolet. This is a car in which you can relax and tour the most beautiful country roads you can find. Meanwhile, you enjoy not only the beautiful engine sound but also the slowly passing scenery. The chassis and brakes are also very well suited to their task and contribute to the overall comfortable experience. The car is beautifully documented. In addition to the original Datenkarte, the complete onboard folder is present, including the filled-out maintenance booklet. In short, a beautifully maintained, matching numbers, stunning-looking, original Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet with a manual transmission.
