Description

The new Mercedes-Benz 220 SEb Coupé and Cabriolet were presented at the opening of the Daimler-Benz Museum in Untertürkheim on 24 February 1961.

As the W 111, the coupé and cabriolet were initially available with the same technology as the 220 SE saloon as the 220 SEb/C.

In contrast to the predecessor model, the coupé was based on the unabridged frame-floor system of the corresponding saloon and was therefore a fully-fledged four-seater.

Four times as many parts were manufactured by hand for coupés and convertibles as for the saloon.

These C models were the last Mercedes to be largely handcrafted, which is why the price of the coupés and cabriolets was almost twice as high as that of the saloons.

The 220 SEb/C was the first Mercedes production passenger car to be fitted with disc brakes on the front wheels.

In the period from 2/1962 to 10/1965, only 2729 units were produced at a price of €25,500.00.

The 250 SE Cabrio followed from 1965.

This vehicle spent most of its life in California and was thoroughly restored here in Germany after its return from the USA.

A current valuation report certifies the vehicle's condition as 1-
