Description
Sales information
The Lagonda M45 and LG45 were the fastest production cars of their time. The race car versions were of course even more performance cars and and next level. Every Lagonda M45 or LG45 race car is loved by those who know and appreciate their qualities. The performance and handling were of great class at the time.
The somewhat narrow, but high body with open wheels was the result of one of the best race car builders of the 1930s, Fox and Nicholl. A perfect match so to speak. Built purely for performance, which was partly due to the newly introduced by Lagonda in their M45, and the very powerful Meadow 4.5 liter 6-cylinder engine. At the same time, Fox and Nicholl were looking for a replacement for their Alfa Romeo race cars, which were equipped with the banned compressors.
This beautiful Lagonda is built on a 1936 LG45 chassis, fitted with the correct M45 (M45/222) engine, which was fitted during the restoration of the car in the mid-nineties. The car has been fully restored and rebuilt by specialist John Walker, who completed the project in 1996. The car was then registered in Germany and is now in Dutch hands.
Not only do the photos show that the car is sublimely built and finished, but the driving is exactly as they had envisioned in 1936. The torque of the wonderful engine, the smooth shifting, the perfect brakes and the razor-sharp steering: everything shows that we are dealing with a top class pre-war. A car that will bring a lot of pleasure to the new owner and which will be welcomed at all shows and tours and many rallies in one’s own coutry or abroad. For the shorter trips there is even room for some passengers. Your children and/or grandchildren will be very grateful if they are invited for a ride.
The car has been perfectly maintained to this day and of course all invoices are present. The engine was overhauled eight years ago and all the technology works as we would expect from a top-class classic car.
You are most welcome to experience what real pre-war driving is like.
