Model history:
The 2-Litre L/C "Continental" was introduced in April 1932 and was the final stage in the development of the successful 2 -litre model.
It was built on the desirable low chassis, providing a lower centre of gravity and thus also enabling sleeker designs. The design was further modernised with a raked grille with hydraulic shutters, an elegantly curved rear end of the hood, a fold-flat windscreen, dashing running boards, an improved fuel tank design and superior brakes.
The body was now all steel, in contrast to the earlier bodies which were made of fabric over a steel frame, for the most part. In order to protect the passengers and following traffic from mud splatter, fabric valances were fitted to the inner side of the front wings, which themselves were narrow and neatly designed.
This motorcar:
Chassis OH 10164
Engine 1913
Only 29 exapmples of the Continental were made. Our example is the very last car produced and presents itself in exceptional and original condition.
OH10164 was sold in the UK and it was first registered 28. July 1932. It left the factory fitted with the exact same T4 body it sports today.
After a series of UK owners, featuring some illustrious names, it was imported into Germany in 1998 and changed hands again in 2018. The full and detailled list of owners is impressive and available on request.
The car is accompanied by a plethora of old pictures, invoices, expertises and everything that could be wished for. It has been a welcome participant in numerous events and rallies over the past decades. A full list of all past entries and journeys is also on file.
An excellent opportunity to acquire a well sorted, rare and sporty prewar-car at an attractive price. As there are too may documents to list, please do get in contact for details.
P.S. The black and white picture shows the car in the 40ies during a trip to Le Mans, being in exactly the same shape it is today.
