Description

When was the last time you saw an MK I with 3.4 litre engine, overdrive, disc brakes ex works as left-hand drive in perfect condition?

Here is such a rare example for sale.

The premiere of the MK 1 was in 1955, in 1957 the powerful 3.4 litre engine known from the XK 140 came onto the market. An overdrive to reduce revs at high speeds on long journeys and disc brakes on all 4 wheels were available for an extra charge. Unique for saloons at this time, when even sports cars were still equipped with drum brakes. In 1957, the MK I 3.4 ltr. was measured by the British car magazine ‘The Motor’ with a top speed of 192.8 km/h. A sensation. A sensation.

This beautiful JAGUAR MK I was built in October 1957 as a left-hand drive model with a 3.4 litre engine, overdrive and disc brakes and delivered to North America.

It came to Europe in the Netherlands in 1991 and was purchased by the last owner in 2016, who completely and extensively restored it by 2021. The engine and gearbox were removed and replaced with a new 3.4-litre unit, the Old English White paint was removed from the body, all corroded areas were professionally cut out and the new sheet metal parts replaced. The doors were fitted perfectly and accurately and close like a safe, snug and flush. Finally, the body was given a high-quality paint finish in the beautiful and very charming JAGUAR colour Ascot Fawn.

The interior is completely original and has a very beautiful and well-kept patina. The wooden dashboard with the dashboard positioned in the centre and the wooden panelling around the door frames, as well as the seats, have been lovingly refurbished. Only the carpet has been replaced. The original fog lights and the spoked wheels in enamelled silver grey make the MK I even more appealing.

To this day, the JAGUAR MK I is one of the most beautiful and timeless sports saloons of all time. Finding a very good example with a healthy and perfectly fitting body, an intact interior and fully functioning technology is extremely difficult. Extensively checked and test-driven by us, everything works perfectly, as it should.
