Ford Shelby Cobra GT 500 KR Fastback
The 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 was the first model in the Shelby G.T. 500 series. Based on the 1967 Mustang, it was equipped with a FE 428 cu in (7.0 L) Police-Interceptor V8 engine with an aluminum mid-rise intake and 2X4-barrel 600 CFM Holley carburetors producing 355 hp (360 PS; 265 kW) at 5,400 rpm and 420 lb⋅ft (569 N⋅m) of torque at 3,200 rpm.[25] 248 were produced in 1967.
Various body panels of the G.T. were made of fiberglass, including the front fascia, hood, taillight panel, trunk lid, side panel extensions, and side scoops.
Beginning in April 1968, Ford began factory-installing a version of the 428 engine known as the Cobra Jet. This new engine featured a unique 16-bolt exhaust flange. The GT500 later became known as the Cobra GT500 KR. The initials KR stood for "King of the Road." Ford rated the Cobra Jet at 335 hp (250 kW), but with 440 lb⋅ft (597 N⋅m) of torque at 3,400 rpm, although the power was considered significantly underreported. [source requested] Shelby's KR engine was left stock and cast aluminum valve covers with the text 'Cobra Lemans' were added to emphasize the victory of Ford's FE engine family over Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966 and 1967.
This Shelby presented here is a top original car. It is finished in Highland Green and also has its original Jet engine. It has a Marti report which, among other things, shows all the correct colors and details. This is a very valuable document. There is also a Shelby register with the car where 3 previous owners can be found. There is also a form with all the photos showing the codes that can be found on the car. This ranges from engine number to gearbox numbers. All numbers are correct. In 2010 the car was restored and in 2018/19 it was restored by PTTM in Sneek, the Netherlands. There is now a beautiful car, which is presented in concours condition. A real 1968 Shelby where everything is right.
It is one of the 1571 Fastbacks, of which this is also 1 of the 530 with the 4-Speed gearbox, and 1 of the 60 with the 3.50 Traction-Lok Rear Axles.
In one word, it drives great and is impressive, partly because of the sound of this Muscle Car !!
So this car will not be for sale with us for long!
