Part of a lineup that includes the Mk2, S-type, 420, and Sovereign. To distinguish them directly from each other, one must be well-versed in the Jaguar and Daimler models of the 1960s. In a quick summary, it all began with the Mk2, succeeded by the S-type. As the S-type did not gain the immediate popularity it was hoped for, Jaguar introduced the 420. Daimler naturally followed suit with their equivalent of the 420, the Sovereign.

Jaguar's S-type emerges in the mid-1960s, featuring a modified rear providing more trunk space, a different roofline allowing for increased passenger headroom, and a slightly altered front to give the car a refreshed look. Progress is not as swift as anticipated in England, prompting the addition of another model to the range, the 420, equipped with a 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine. The 420 is easily distinguishable from the aforementioned models by its modified front. And Daimler? They, of course, created their own version, the luxuriously appointed Sovereign. And that is the model you see in the photos.

This Sovereign appears to be in impeccable condition, as it underwent a complete restoration by a brand specialist from top to bottom and from front to rear bumper. Not only is it a visual delight, but it is also technically in a flawless condition.

The body shines with tight seams and beautiful paintwork. In a car with such sleek lines, the slightest imperfections are noticeable, but not so on this stylishly green-painted Sovereign. The expertly restored body is complemented by the exceptionally neat chrome work. The characteristic front, designed with a slight forward tilt, is both stately and stylish, with Daimler's ribbed grille adding the finishing touch to the styling.

A dramatically contrasting interior? No, certainly not! True to the style of a sophisticated Englishman, dark green leather has been chosen, perfectly complementing the exterior. It also blends splendidly with the wooden elements of the dashboard. The interior was completely 'done-up' during the restoration, preserving originality and retaining parts that contribute to the beautiful original atmosphere that still manages to prevail. The leather is lightly used and exceptionally comfortable.

And perhaps the finest aspect of a 420: the driving experience. The silky smooth six-cylinder engine provides incredible driving pleasure, and with the comfortable suspension, 'sumptuous' is the first word that comes to mind when describing the driving characteristics. The Daimler feels luxurious, opulent, a joy to be on the road with. However, a Daimler Sovereign is not just about comfort; steering the English saloon is also very pleasant. Like a Mk2 and an S-type, the Sovereign is a very enjoyable car to be on the road with, and this beautiful example we feel is rather a good illustration of that.
