Fjord Blue 3.0 CSi

This 1974 BMW 3.0 CSi with VIN 4340463 is the 463th built car from the 2nd series CSi. Built on the 1st of April 1974 and delivered to Autohaus Steinbüsch in Geilenkirchen-Bauchem, Germany on the 22nd of May 1974 in this color - 037 Fjord Blue Metallic.

The car comes with lots of history, dating back to the 1980's. Lovely documented, 79.000 documented kilomers. The car was sold new to the original owner at Autohaus Steinbüsch oHG. Since the early 1980's the car was owned by Mr. Langer from Gärtringen and drove on numberplate BB-EL 632. In 1986 the car was bought by the last owner - Mr. Gaiser from Tübingen, driven on Numberplate TÜ-A10 and bought at BMW in Tübingen with 57.000 kilometers. Dealer invoices and Technical inspections (Tüv) are present and document this. Mr. Gaiser owned the car up to 2024, up until we bought this car. The car comes with countless invoices and even older pictures. Long term ownership, 79.000 kilometers.

We have recently found this Fjord gem in Germany. The car now benefits from a fresh restoration in our workshop. Going through the car completely: Body, Paintwork, Mechanicals and Interior. A beautiful and timeless color combination of 037 Fjord Blue over Marine blue leather. A solid body shows great panelgaps and straight bodywork. The paintwork was redone this year and shows excellent. Such a timeless and chique color - sought after among BMW enthusiasts. Brightwork is in beutiful condition and furthermore clear headlights in clean grilles, high-gloss polished tailligths and new BMW emblems. Countless gaskets have been replaced (doors, engine-bay, trunk) and the bumpers are in excellent condition!

The factory Marine blue interior was restored by us, our upholsterer truly transformed it. The seats and rear-seats received beautiful, supple, genuine leather. The carpets have been replaced with a new set in blue, as per original. The center console was reupholstered as well as the rear-parcel-shelf. Beautiful features are the period correct Blaupunkt radio and Nardi steering wheel. The rest of the interior is original and shows excellent: A clean, crisp headliner, beautiful original dash, lovely original wood and original doorpanels in great condition.

The engine-bay of this E9 looks spectacular. The inner-fenders are solid, mats have been installed as per original and it was beautifully repainted. Also the original stickers were put back in. The cylinderhead was rebuilt in 2008 and we have performed a major, major service completely sorting this car. Injection tuned, ignition set up, ignition set up and partially replaced. Countless gaskets, new filters, fluids and ready to go. It fires up and idles great - makes great power too. 200 hours here invested!

The car sits on lowered suspension and drives lovely. Great suspension for a proper Grand Touring driving experience. We have installed the 16" Alpina-style wheels, 7" wide in the front, 8" wide in the rear. The trunk shows original sheetmetal and the upholstery is all original. Original wooden panels with original grey vinyl - doesn't show it's age of 50 years. The toolset in the trunk is complete. Sparewheel, jack and tool are obviously present.

The undercarriage is very original and clean. It was cleaned extensively and tediously. After hours of dry-ice blasting and cleaning we saw how BMW made and meant it. Original floors in BMW's grey primer. The wheelwells in body color. We have coated the entire undercarriage in a transparent bodycoating (TimeMax Clear). A great outcome. Now protected against the elements, non-sticky and therefore easily cleanable while keeping the originality,

We have completely sorted this immaculate 3.0 CSi, in short:

  • Engine Oil - All Filters - Valve adjustment

  • Transmission removed, re-sealed, new oil

  • Re-seal differential + new fluid

  • Adjusting and greasing all 4 electric windows

  • Reupholstery in Marine leather + new carpets

  • Lathing of 4 brake rotors

  • Rebuild of 4 brake calipers

  • New set of 16" wheels + new Hankook tyres

  • Set of Lowering springs

  • Steam and dry-ice cleaning of undercarriage

  • Clear coat of undercarriage

  • Several bushings in the front and rear suspension

  • Install new automatic seatbelts

  • Doorbrakes L + R

  • Replace Emblems + Countless seals
