Baikal blue 3.0 Coupe

Another very high quality 3.0 CSi available in Baikal Blue over Black leather. This car too started life in Italy and was built and first registered in 1972. It's Italian origin really shows: An example that hasn't seen any rust and is showing original body and floors in perfect original condition.

The car was imported into Germany in 2005 and came from the 2nd owner in Italy. What was bought is a very original, straight, true and correct BMW 3.0 CSi. A great starting point to turn into a show winner.

The car was restored completely, correctly and very thoroughly. The engine has been removed for a complete rebuild by a BMW specialist in Munich. This was done very extensive given flywheel, clutch-set, engine mounts and the wiring loom were replaced with new as well. Ofcourse a new waterpump, all new ignition parts and properly set up. With the engine sorted, the suspenion was gone through; New Mangold CSL springs, Bilstein shocks, all bushings were replaced. The brake calipers were rebuilt, 4 new rotors with pads installed and the brake master cylinder were replaced. While in there the power steering pump rebuilt and put back with new fluid. The differential was re-sealed, received new fluid and the half-shafts have been rebuilt.

With the suspension settled, time for the proper wheels. A new set of Alpina wheels in 7Jx14" was installed with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres. Not restored wheels, but brand new out of the box.
The undercarriage of this car is amazing and beautifully original. Original floors and sills from 1972. With dry-ice blasting the dirt was removed, but also the factory rubber-ish undercoating. A special paint for car floors was mixed in Baikal body-color and applied in 3 coats. The hollow sections / cavities of the car we're treated with the famous Mike Sanders anti-rust grease. Ready for the future.

Time for paint. All windows, bumpers and trim have been removed and the car was completely repainted in it's factory color. The mats in the engine bay have been removed and the engine-bay was repainted as well. The quality of the paint is extraordinary. A quality level one rarely sees. Straight as an arrow, the fold in the sides perfectly visible, perfect panelgaps and a paint finish without any peel or defects. The car was re-assembled with new or near-new parts. New headlights, new blinkers, new BMW emblems (including C-pillars), new 3.0 CSi-emblem, re-chromed front bumper, new chrome mirrors. The taillights are in as new condition, the grilles on the fenders and grille are brand new items. Trim around the roof and belt-line trim is excellent condition. Combined with the brand new wheels - the car looks like new, Mint!

The interior and trunk of the car are highly original, but lightly restored too. The trunk shows it's original grey panels and trunk mat. The tools tray plus set of tools was replaced with new.
The interior is of exceptional condition; original carpets in mint condition, original headliner in mint, white condition. So are the dashboard, the doorpanels, the wood panelling and the center console. All perfect parts from 1972 that haven't been restored. The seats and rear seat have been reupholstered with beautifully supple black leather. It shows a period correct Blaupunkt radio with BMW knobs.

The car drives beautiful. Very easy to drive, makes great power and is really dialed in. The quality of body, paint and trim is exceptional and the car makes a like new, mint impression.
