1936 | Bentley 4 1/4 Litre Thrupp & Maberly
Description
1936 Bentley Derby 4.25 Sedanca by Thrupp & Maberly
Chassis number: B-36-GA
Registration Number: CXE213
A stunningly beautiful car which wows onlookers wherever it is seen, this 4.25 Litre Derby Bentley Sedanca Coupe has fabulous and possibly unique aluminium Sedanca coachwork by Thrupp and Maberly.
The subject of a massive restoration By Clanfield Coachbuilding, Fiennes Restoration & Marque Specialist Tony James and others, the car comes with a huge history file and piles of receipts for work done including a total body restoration (the coachwork was transferred to this chassis from B143CW c1978) including aluminium panel and ash frame replacement, a top quality interior re-trim in beautiful beige leather, total rewiring in the correct braided cable and all necessary mechanical work which was completed about 30 years ago. The restoration costed roughly £38,000 back in the days, which translates in c.a. £150,000 in modern days money.
The car which has been well maintained, stored in a heated garage and sparingly used since its restoration still presents beautifully.
Running and driving particularly well, the car has the ‘all of one piece’ solid rattle free feeling it would have had when it was almost new, and is the personification of the “Bentley silent Sports Car" moniker.
The cars interior is trimmed throughout in immaculate tan leather, the seats are very comfortable and the front seat adjustment allows it to accommodate the tallest drivers in comfort. The mahogany dashboard and door cappings, dashboard instruments and interior fittings are equally superb
The opening sedanca roof is easy to operate and stows away quickly and easily. It and the roof covering in beige are again in like new order. The interior is spacious in the extreme & makes for very comfortable motoring for the rear passengers who are cosseted by the solid sedanca roof to the rear.
Exterior paint is Masons black cellulose & in very good order ,with the deep gloss only found with cellulose paint. Beige wire wheels are installed all round shod with 4 good tyres and an unused spare.
To sum up this is a great car fitted with rare desirable original coachwork & is ready for immediate extended use.It is a pleasure to drive, looks beautiful from every angle and is the centre of attention wherever it goes.
