The Mini is a small, two-door, four-seater car produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 to 2000. With a brief hiatus, original Minis were built for four decades and sold for five years, from the last year of the 1950s to the last year of the 20th century, in a single generation, as fastbacks, estate cars, and convertibles.
The original Mini is considered an icon of British popular culture from the 1960s. Its space-saving transverse engine and front-wheel drive—which allowed 80% of the car's floor area to be used for passengers and luggage—influenced a generation of car manufacturers. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, after the Ford Model T and ahead of the Citroën DS and Volkswagen Beetle. The front-wheel drive, transverse engine layout was used in many other "supermini" style car designs such as the Honda N360 (1967), Nissan Cherry (1970) and Fiat 127 (1971).
This striking two-door car was designed for BMC by Sir Alec Issigonis. It was produced at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham, England, located next to BMC's headquarters, and at the former Morris Motors factory at Cowley near Oxford.
The Mini Mark I had three major British updates: the Mark II, the Clubman and the Mark III. These included a range of variations including an estate car, a pick-up, a van and the Mini Moke, a jeep-like buggy.
This Mini presented here is of the "Pick-Up" type, meaning it has an open box attached. Furthermore, this Mini Van has been completely restored and painted. It therefore looks fantastic. The bodywork lines fit nicely. Furthermore, there is a wooden dashboard and slightly more comfortable seats. It is an original Dutch car from 1977 and has been maintained with care. The car has front disc brakes and a 1275 cc. engine that has been replaced. It drives, steers and shifts very well. The wheels on it are 10" Wolfrace rims. Of this very rare Mini, there are approximately 40 driving in the Netherlands. On the loading bed you see a tarpaulin. It is a small car that causes a lot of sensation.
