Description

The DB6 has the onerous task of succeeding its majesty the DB5, one of the most iconic cars of its generation. This new 'DB' is an evolution rather than a revolution, with the mechanicals remaining unchanged and the cabin gaining in volume thanks to a modified roofline and roofline designed to accommodate four occupants. The 'DB' line continues to write the Gaydon company's letters of nobility, thanks to the quality of its manufacture and its timeless elegance. Our rare Vantage version gives our model added power and exclusivity.

Our car rolled off the production line on 24 January 1966 and went on sale in the UK shortly afterwards. It was part of the first series (Mk I) of the DB6. The odometer shows a non-guaranteed mileage of 79,201 and the vehicle has undergone a mechanical restoration over several years by its current owner in order to present itself in perfect condition. The car is accident free, technical checks, carvertical and histovec reports available, Aston Martin certificate of authenticity and recent history available on request. Car registered in France with collector's registration and on display at our premises in Valence.

ENGINE AND GEARBOX

The Lagonda 6-cylinder in-line engine with a total displacement of 3995 cm3 is very pleasant to use and is backed up by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Our Vantage version enables the vehicle to develop 325 bhp (compared with 280 for standard, non-vantage engines), thanks to the installation of 3 Weber carburettors. The raucous, metallic sound is very pleasant, while the bestiality of the engine contrasts with the refinement of the rest of the vehicle. Once on the road, the engine's thrust is straightforward and linear, with no jerks or dips in power. Numerous repairs and improvements have been carried out by the owner, who is used to working on this type of engine. A large number of invoices for parts purchased from specialists are present, testifying to the attention paid to the car. Please contact us for more information.

EXTERIOR

In its iconic and sublime Silver Birch color, in perfect condition, the bodywork offers sublime volumes that we owe to the Touring Superleggera bodywork for its design. The main aesthetic changes to the DB 6 are due to its evolution into a true 4-seater, mainly thanks to its lengthened wheelbase and redesigned roofline to create a decent amount of rear space. A discreet aerodynamic spoiler has been added to the rear trunk. The 15-inch spoked wheels are in perfect condition, as is the chrome. There are no signs of corrosion on the bodywork, wheel arches or underpinnings.

INTERIOR

The cabin welcomes its occupants in a very 'British' spirit, making generous use of noble materials and quality fittings, beautiful aluminum inserts and chrome, not to mention the generous use of black connolly leather. The seats are comfortable and in good condition, with an elegant patina. The rear bench seat and door mounts are in very good condition, as are the carpets and dashboard. All the Smiths instrumentation is in working order.

CONSUMABLES

In terms of consumables, the Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres in good condition date from 2017, size 215/70 VR15 98W front and rear, while the brakes require no work, having received regular maintenance.
