1969 Plymouth Road Runner

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner was finally given a new lease of life. When it arrived at our workshop, it was in a truly desolate condition. But after an extensive restoration, this muscle car shines again in new splendour.

Here at Moparshop, Germany's most renowned ‘Mopar only’ specialist workshop, this car was completely rebuilt over many years of painstaking work. It was stripped down to the sheet metal and professionally painted in Germany in the rare Hi Impact colour ‘ralley green’, which it also had in the original. It was then reassembled in our specialist workshop with incredible attention to detail. Some original parts were refurbished, but many new parts were also fitted. There are over 1000 pictures of the restoration and the list of new parts is very long. Definitely an investment worth making in any collection!

Among other things, it had the following equipment ex works, here are the most important key data:

  • 383cui V8 big block engine with casting date 1969
  • HP cast iron manifold
  • A727 3 speed automatic transmission with steering wheel shift
  • 8 3/4 rear axle with lock
  • Air Grabber bonnet (restored)
  • ex works already clean engine compartment look as ordered without air conditioning
  • optional 3 speed wiper motor
  • power steering
  • 11″ manual drum brakes
  • 15″ Police rims with centre caps (other rims can be selected)
  • 215-75-15 front / 255-60-15 rear
  • Reflective longitudinal stickers on the side panel
  • black vinyl roof
  • Black bench seat
  • black matt bonnet paintwork, which is how it was delivered from the factory
  • Optional indicators on the mudguards
  • Original paint colour ‘Ralley Green’, this colour is one of the popular Hi Impact colours. This green colour was a so-called mid-year introduction. This means that it was only (and only) available in the last few months of the 1969 model year series. We know of no other vehicle in Germany with this original colour.
  • Completely rust-free
  • Pictures of the restoration & sheet metal work available
  • Completely overhauled heater box
  • Completely restored pedals

ENGINE ROOM

The power in this car comes from a 383cui (6.3 litre) Big Block Hi Performance V8 engine with 335 HP. We have restored this bird in great detail, complete and factory correct. The overhauled Magnum 383cui with 4-barrel carburettor, dual-plane intake manifold and hydraulic camshaft runs perfectly.

It has a complete, functioning air-grabber system. The car has power steering. Every component has been restored, even the ‘beep beep’ horn works. The fender tag is included with the car and has the rare 99 code for the Rally Green paint. The engine compartment is meticulously painted with a glossy finish.

The 3-speed automatic transmission is the A727 version and easily transfers the power of the big block to the large 8 ¾ rear axle with a 3.23:1 rear axle ratio and built-in limited slip differential.

PAINTING

A true muscle car classic from Mopar (Chrysler Cooperation)

After several months of successful sales figures for the 69 Road Runner, Mopar went one better and added this Hi Impact colour to the range of options. The contrast with the black vinyl roof and the ‘Black Hood Treatment’ creates a magical look. If you imagine the car in 1969, among the vehicles produced in Europe, you realise how much it stands out. The vibrant green colour does not come across as too trendy, it is simply the perfect pairing for this fast, wild bird.

Rare Hi impact colour - Rallye Green. Has performance hood treatment in textured black matt, plus white, reflective side stripes and a perfectly matching black vinyl roof. Road Runners were no-frills muscle cars with few optional extras other than the performance options. This car has rare original Chrysler 15-inch steel wheels with so-called ‘dog dish caps’. The body is super clean, freshly restored and has zero rust. The applied acrylic paint is much more durable and brilliant than the thermoplastic paintwork used at the time. It also has a glossy clear coat that is polished smooth. All stainless steel mouldings have been professionally polished.

The chrome and stainless steel parts have all been restored. Up front, the grille and headlight surrounds are in excellent condition. It has the optional chrome add-on indicator lights on the top of the mudguards. Both bumpers have been renewed and shine in perfect condition. The sleek Road Runner rear has the optional bright exhaust tips in oval Plymouth style. All of the vehicle's seals have been renewed, as has the windscreen.

LUGGAGE ROOM

Perfectly clean metal. The boot floor is just as beautifully painted as the exterior. New rubber boot mat is still being fitted. The underside of the boot lid is also gloss painted.

This Road Runner has had an incredible restoration and looks like it was finished this morning. The details are amazing. But it also works as well as it looks! We will ensure this with several hundred kilometres of tuning runs before delivery. Of course, it has already had its ‘first run’, but the Road Runner has not yet driven 50 kilometres since the restoration was completed.

INTERIOR

Restored to brand new condition from the carpet to the headlining. Restored dashboard with gleaming chrome and clear glass, no broken plastic. We also replaced the corroded fuse holders in the fuse box with new ones. During the work, we made the connections with copper rivets, as in the original.

The heater box was completely dismantled, cleaned and reassembled with new seals. Its metal parts were derusted and repainted. The original, well-preserved, yellow-coloured stamp with the number 2837500 was left out during painting and is therefore still visible. It has the original factory radio. The interior lighting works, even the small light above the ignition lock. The new headlining is stretched without creases and the upholstery has been completely renewed, including door panels and new carpet.

German TÜV and H licence plate are included in the sale price.

"How fast can you go?
