This first series Maserati Vignale presents some unique styling features, ordered by its first owner, Renzo Bompani.
After ordering the Sebring at the Maserati factory in dark blue with off-white leather he changed his mind, without even having taken delivery of his car. Possibly influenced by the presentation of he 5000 GT he wanted the front changed to a similar styling. This was executed by Carrozzeria Marchesi under the supervision of Maserati. On this occasion the colour was also changed to its present livery. For the outside, a very elegent Lancia colour was chosen, which was not within the normal Maserati range: Verde Acqua Caliente Metallizzato. The interior was restyled in Marrone, or chestnut, which goes extremely well with the outside colour and makes for a very elegant yet dramatic appearance.
Mr. Bompani kept his new toy up to 1968 when he sold it to a businessman from Reggio Calabria.
Fom 1991 to 2013 the Sebring was owned by Mr. Adolfo Modesti from Rome and registered Roma 82280Z. The original plates are still with the car.
In 2013 Giovanni Siena from Treviso bought the car and had it partly restored to its current condition.
From 2014-2015 the car was owned by Pier Luigi Chiesa, who had owned quite a number of significant cars in his life of which I had the pleasure too sell a few.
Since 2015 onwards the Sebring is part of a larger collection of mostly Italian cars in Germany.
Apart from its one-off design, this Sebring is in excellent condition throughout and has the charms of a well preserved car. The interior is still the original leather and has acquired a beautiful patina.
The car comes with all the heritage documents from the Maserati factory as well as hand written specs and build-sheets, estratto cronologico etc.
At present, we are giving it a fresh service in our workshop to prepare it for its next owner.
A unique opportunity to own an extremely elegant yet powerful, one-off Italian thoroughbred.
