What a cracker this stunning XK is - gleaming metallic burgundy with a glorious burgundy mohair hood and a light grey leather interior piped in burgundy
Certainly an eye full and I must say, I'm very much in love
To top off this creamy example she drives magnificently from the silky smooth & powerful engine, to the ever-so perfect for touring Laycock manually operated overdrive (second gear lever in front of the normal Moss box stick) and in between the poly bushed suspension, with non adjustable shock absorbers
Then there is the modern high efficiency radiator core with 14" thermostically controlled cooling fan, the hidden battery cut-off switch, hydraulic power steering (with on/off switch) mated to a removable Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel
Oh, and not to forget, just to top off the most full specification there the most amazing brakes
XK6 3 pot Girling calipers mated to the 11" 1/2" thick disc brakes at the front
XK6 2 pot Girling calipers mated to the 11" 1/2" thick disc brakes at the rear
All fitted with Aeroquip hoses
As an SE specified example she comes with twin exhausts, twin sport lamps and wire wheels (these shiny beauties are obviously chromed) shod in this instance with Pirelli Cinturato 185/16 tyres
What a SPEC !!!
The intrepid owners used her for Continental Touring over the past 6 years since they purchased her from the restoration company, Leaping Cats
Journeys through France, Italy and Spain have been completed without hiccup - many sensible extras have been fabricated to ease these journey's, such as the hand trimmed seat rests, to stop them sliding on the seats when cornering, the ledge on which to keep you mobile phone, bottle of water etc, a charger / jumper connection on the bulkhead to ease the process (never used but nice to know it was there) and a resited fuel filter, again for ease of cleaning in case of dodgy fuel on the motorway services in France (normally the fuel filter is under the car floor pan)
There is a nice history file with an Heritage Certificate, confirming she started life as an XK150 DHC, supplied to Jaguar Cars, New York in LHD on 17th December 1957 - she was Red with Cream interior with manual gears - therefore probably first registered in 1958 and she still to this day retains her original matching engine.
I must say, although we have had many Classic's over the years, this is one of the very best appointed ever, ready to go on another European Tour at the drop of a hat
