1937 Derby Bentley 4.25 Hooper Drophead.
Chassis number: B7JY
Registration number: DXV141
Engine Number: H6BD
The best of the best:
This car is a one off design by Hooper & carries drop dead gorgeous coachwork. The roof line is rakish in the extreme culminating in a low cut "letter box" style windscreen. Only one such example was produced to this design. The dash board is original to the car & is unusual in that it was done in chrome plate giving a stunning appearance to the interior.
Delivered April 1937 Reg: DXV141, Engine H6BD, genuine mileage 86,137.

Described by Hooper as a "2 door All weather". Only car to design no 6718

Originally black, P165 Ellman-Brown 'BentleyThe Silent Sports Car'.

5 former owners. Large history file.
1st owner, one RL Jump, returned the car to Hooper after 1200 miles and less than 12 months, possibly because of his age( said to be an "elderly man") and the particularly low roof line may not have suited him.
Previous owner in California 1965-2009. Less than 6000 miles in 44 years and many years on display in a car showroom in Indiana. Because of the shrinkage in a replacement vinyl hood, rendering it unusable, I don't think it could have been out in the rain in that time!
1956- Correspondence with Bentley Motors evidencing work in 1949 at 33,875 miles including "all work necessary at that time including reboring cylinder block, supplying and fitting new pistons, replacement crankshaft and new bearings, together with attention to the slipper drive, tappet and rocker mechanism, starter motor drive, clutch, rear axle, rear shock damper links, petrol pumps, dynamo starter and such other items as required attention." A long time ago but only 52,000 miles ago, as shown by powerful, urgent engine and running gear.
Recent restoration:
Bare metal repaint in pale blue and dark blue fine coachlining - Malin Motor Bodies
All bright work replated -Vernon Moss, Brighouse, and head/side/spot lights restored - Vintage Headlamp Restoration
All internal wood, originally skinned in very thin lead and chromium plated, replaced with cast and polished aluminium.
Polished wheel discs.
New leather upholstery and matching carpet-Protectus, Selby
New mohair hood/wool headlining/hoodbag- Mike Scott/Dave Strange, Petersfield
In addition to the comprehensive cosmetic restoration, the car has been thoroughly checked mechanically & a myriad of small jobs attended to leaving the car in superb running order. The car has a very tight feel to it reflecting the low mileage from new & is going to be in impeccable condition when finished. We will of course conduct a full photo shoot at that time of the car, resplendent in its new paint. The engine has been fully rebuilt at vast expense by noted German Marque Specialist Werner Mork. A few thousand miles have been completed since the engine rebuild.
Well known on the European show circuit, the car has appeared both at The Villa D'Este Concours & also Masterpieces at the Schloos Dyck.
The car is part of a small collection of high end vehicles in Austria that we have been tasked to sell, all in impeccable condition & maintained without regard to cost. Viewings are near Villach by appointment.
