Descrizione

This RHD Home Market Triumph TR5 PI was manufactured on the 8th January 1968 and supplied new by Birkenhead dealership R.E Wright & Company Ltd with disc wheels, heater and Michelin XAS tyres. The Triumph has arrived with us from a regular customer in Lincoln, and we are pleased to report that its arrived with us in impressive condition having had a body-off restoration with a Triumph PI specialist in the late 1990’s.

The TR5 spent from 1993 to 2020 with one owner who put the car into the hands of a PI restorer in 1997. A detailed, impressive summary was put together by the restorers that included 400 photographs of the rebuild. With the body off, the chassis was shot blasted before being primed and painted, then Waxoyl treated. The bodyshell was remove from the chassis and completely restored, new floor pans were fitted, the inner and outer sills were replaced, new inner wings were fitted, the outer wings were repaired as necessary, and all the hinged panels were removed, repaired or replaced as required. All the rubber bushings were renewed, all the springs and shockers were replaced, the steering rack was replaced and then all parts were assembled with new zinc-plated nuts, bolts, and washers. The calipers were rebuilt with new pistons and seals, the brake discs were replaced, all brake pipes were renewed, new rear slave cylinders were fitted, and the brake master cylinder was reconditioned. The engine was replaced with a fully reconditioned unit, along with a reconditioned fuel injection system, a new stainless-steel manifold and exhaust was fitted along with a new radiator. The gearbox was stripped and inspected, and the overdrive unit was reconditioned. The interior was treated to new carpets new door cards, and a new dash top. The photos clearly demonstrate an excellent standard of workmanship and confirm what was a thorough, high-quality nut and bolt rebuild.

This beautifully presented TR5 now displays a recorded mileage of 21,000 since its restoration and over this period it's clear to see how well the car has been stored due to the presentation of the Red exterior and Black leather upholstery – the car looks a much more recent restoration. On the road PKF 135F is fantastic, the engine is very fit with excellent oil pressure, the gearbox and overdrive are very smooth and correct, and the steering and brakes are very sharp and responsive. PKF135F makes for a superb choice of car for long drives and weekends away, with the factory equipped surrey soft top removed and the sunshine out this car will ensure fond memories are made.
