He is one of our very own professional detailers and spends much of his time making sure that your cars look as beautiful as possible before our photographers get to work on them and your author dips his nib in a pot of ink.

He’s also a huge fan of all things BMW and knows his way around the marque and its models.

So, with that in mind, you really shouldn’t be too surprised to learn that this car, of which he is just the third owner, is in really very good condition indeed and has had plenty of money spent with main dealers on servicing and maintenance.

The vendor has had the car for two years and covered no more than 10,000 miles in that time.

The car is a face-lift model, which means it features more modern iDrive and sat-nav functionality, plus the peace of mind that comes from having the later B47 engine.

Factory-fitted options include an electrically deployed tow-bar (which doesn’t look as if it’s ever seen any service), heated seats and ‘Shadow Line’ roof rails and gloss-black exterior trim.

It starts, goes, steers, handles, grips and stops with impressive levels of competence and capability.

It is reassuringly free of any creaks, rattles, sighs or groans, suggesting that Gunther and Wolfgang had done a good day’s work when they waved it goodbye from the production line on 3rd February 2015.
