Granat Red 3.0 CSi

This 1974 BMW 3.0 CSi with VIN 4340427 is the 427th built car from the 2nd series CSi. Built on the 21st of March 1974 and delivered to BMW Dealer Antes & Hofmann in Mannheim, Germany on the 26th of April 1974 in this color - 025 Granat Red Metallic. Then first registered on the 2nd of May '74. The car was kept very well, was lightly used. The car is now 50 years old and hasn't seen any welding or repairs on it's body. Truly unique and therefore a high-end 3.0 CSi.

We have recently acquired this CSi from the last German owner. We we're blown away by the condition of the car. Why? The body is very original, non-restored or repaired. As many may know: The E9's can be prone to rust and hard to repair. The floors, sills/rockers, A-pillars and engine-bay / Inner fenders are original, non-restored and in great condition.

The body of the car is very straight, has perfect panelgaps and wears original fenders, doors, quarterpanels and lids. Unrestored. The paint of has been redone a year ago to a high standard. A very proper repaint performed in Germany. Ofcourse with windows out, trim off, bumpers off. A deep shine, original colour and no tape marks. The trim of the car is in excellent condition. The chrome bumpers are excellent, a mirror shine in the upper and underside. Beltline chrome is just as nice, new headlights and excellent taillights. Excellent original glass in replaced seals. It has new BMW roundels, new mirrors. The car makes an as new appearance.

On the inside a perfect mix of 1974 original and perfectly restored. The dash and it's wood is perfect and original. No chips on the wood, a non-cracked dash without any holes or extra switches. The doorpanels are beautifully unrestored as well as the wood. A clean, crisp headliner from 1974. The carpet has been replaced and the seats and rearseats have been reupholstered in the factory correct grey velours material. A top notch job was done, you can hardly spot it was redone. A new Nardi steering wheel was fitted. The original 4-spoke leather trimmed wheel is present and in excellent condition. The period correct Bavaria S FM radio plays nicely.

The engine-bay of this E9 looks spectacular. All original. The original inner-fenders / sheetmetal, original mats and original paint and decals. Something very rare with E9's. The matching numbers engine is present, which needed a little love - which we gave it. The cylinderhead was removed and sent out for rebuild. We installed new rod bearings, chain, pistonrings and countless seals and gaskets. The rebuilt engine now runs excellent. Also everything on and around the engine was replaced. Injection tuned, ignition set up, coolant hoses replaced. 100% sorted and ready to use.

The car sits on lowered suspension and drives lovely. Great suspension for a proper Grand Touring driving experience. We have installed the 16" Alpina-style wheels, 7" wide in the front, 8" wide in the rear. The trunk shows it's original grey paneling. Both over the wheelhousings as the flat panels over the tank and spare wheel. The toolset in the trunk is complete!

The undercarriage is something we're very proud of. It was cleaned extensively and tediously. After hours of dry-ice blasting and cleaning we saw how BMW made and meant it. Not painted, not welded. Original floors in BMW's grey primer. The wheelwells in body color. We have coated the entire undercarriage in a transparent bodycoating. A great outcome. Now protected against the elements, non-sticky and therefore easily cleanable and you still see the originality.

We have completely sorted this immaculate 3.0 CSi, in short:
