1937 Derby Bentley 4.25 Litre Park Ward Drop head coupe.
Chassis Number: B-193-KU
Registration Number: CFF288EC S Africa. UK Registration applied for.
Just arrived with us from the dry climes of South Africa. This Derby is in fine order having been fully restored a decade or so ago & covering less then 5000 miles since. It has a very period look from its beautiful black paintwork. To the interior is stone coloured new leather & beautifully finished burr walnut woodwork.
The car started life as a 4 door Park Ward saloon. It was rebodied by the current owner with the beautiful drop head coupe coachwork we find on the car today. A brand new ash frame was constructed & alumiinium panels formed on an english wheel to construct the body we find on the car today. I have to say the builder got the lines absolutley right creating a rakich & elegant drop head coupe that looks superb from every angle you see it in.
The car is immaculate under the bonnet & presents to show standards. The engine was completely disassembled & rebuilt whilst the body was off the car as were all the other mechanical components with new brake liniings fitted & a new clutch etc etc. Ace wheel discs in polished aluminium are fitted all round & the spare sits to the rear in its own aluminium cover. An overdrive unit was also installed for relazed higher speed journeys.
The convertible top is brand new & of black double duck material easily raising & lowering. The car underneath is in superb condition having lived in dry climes all its life. The clamshell style boot is capacious with ample room for luggage when touring. Currently on South African number plates, we are in the process of UK registering the car. Test drives from our UK showrrom are welcomed.
