Description

Based on the fantastic Volvo P1800 Coupé (1961-1972, Frua design), just over 8,000 P1800 ES "station wagon coupés" were built in just two years—from summer 1971 to fall 1973.

The combination of ultimate stylish design with the very best Volvo quality and reliability made it outstanding even in its early years—and that hasn't changed to this day. Wherever a P1800 ES appears, it garners attention, admiration, and desire.

Our Volvo was first delivered to the USA, where it was registered in July 1973 with the license plate CA-05 84. The car came to Germany around 1983/1984, where it was first registered with a Mainz license plate in March 1984. The car finally underwent its first overhaul in 1993/1994, followed by its restoration by a car dealership in Wiesbaden in 2015.

The current owner has kept the Volvo since 2015 and, during this time, has invested in, among other things, its ignition system, tachometer, and speedometer (now km instead of mls). The Volvo has been kept in excellent condition during this time, so that even 10 years after its restoration, it appears absolutely clean, fresh, and unused. The body of our Volvo is solid and shows no signs of corrosion. The high-quality metallic blue paintwork is still as good as new and virtually undamaged. There are no scratches or dents. The gaps all around are perfect, and all doors and hoods open and close perfectly. The Volvo looks incredibly high-quality in this color – in our opinion, the best color combination. The interior – including the trunk – also appears extremely well-maintained. The leather seats, for example, were refinished during the restoration and – like the carpets, door panels, and dashboard – are in wonderful condition with only minor signs of careful use. The extensive, very classic watch collection, embedded in the elegant dashboard, exudes a true sports car ambiance.

Thanks to its Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection system, the Volvo starts perfectly even after extended periods of inactivity and, in our opinion, runs extremely powerfully. The engine, transmission, steering, and brakes work flawlessly, creating a pleasantly safe and confident driving experience. The Volvo is fun to drive – on the way to the supermarket, but especially on long journeys. The Volvo is equipped with an electrically selectable overdrive that reduces the engine speed by almost 20%, like a 5th gear.

We'll deliver the Volvo immediately, ready to go, with a fresh MOT, a historic-registration, and a valuation report for your insurance. We're happy to provide a competitive quote for transport to your home. If you're interested, please schedule an appointment.
