1974 | Triumph TR 6

The best-seller of the Triumph range, the TR6 was certainly considered the highest performer of all the models to date. Presented in a highly presentable condition following and extensive restoration over a number of years, including the front wings, boot lid and sills. It has been fully resprayed in Royal blue, although there is some very minor bubbling now upon close inspection. The brightwork is in generally good order and the underside also appears sound, especially the chassis and floor pan, as indeed described by 'Classic Assessments' some years ago. The black interior is in good condition throughout with fairly new door trims and carpets. The side panels are all sound with the dashboard itself having been revarnished well. An aftermarket Mountney wood-rimmed steering wheel and inertia reel seatbelts have been fitted and the double-duck soft top and re-worked frame are in good order although the soft top windows require some attention.

The mechanics appear to be in good working order having all undergone a variety of remedial work at some time with many components renewed including the engine mounts, coolant hoses and fuel pipes. The fuel-injection system has been replaced with twin 45 Dellorto carburettors combined with a pair of pan air-filters. The exhaust system is also non-standard and has also been upgraded to stainless steel. The power output has been increased to an estimated 165bhp which can be easily handled by the 2.5 litre, six-cylinder engine and it now also runs on unleaded fuel, all connected to a four-speed gearbox and optional overdrive unit, all reported to work well. Additionally, there are chrome wire wheels fitted all round with good quality tyres on each corner making for a highly presentable classic overall, connected to a strong engine and all pointing to a high performance example.
