Description

This is a real show piece, a true collectors car that has been subject of a magnificent, no expense spared restoration carried out to the very highest of standards. This rare and desirable Sunbeam was subject of an early 1990’s ground up restoration and covered around 5000 miles before changing hands ten years later. The restored 401 EMC was purchased in 2000 by a prominent British businessman and politician who then spent a staggering £30,000 on taking the Sunbeam to a show class standard. Considering values, and labour rates 25 years ago, this level of expenditure ensured the work was carried out to a very impressive standard. Upon initial purchase in 2000 the Sunbeam was taken to well-known Aston Martin restorers Panel-Wise of Weybridge, Surrey who stripped the bodyshell back to bare metal, carried out a body restoration as required and beautifully painted the car. Comprehensive invoices are on file providing detail of the thorough restoration process, parts are also listed to include various new rubbers, beading, window regulators, mouldings and fixing plates and various re-chroming. Whilst already of a very good standard, this owner with no expense spared wanted to take the car to a whole new level. The highly respected, world renowned Heritage Aston Martin specialists RS Williams then re-trimmed the upholstery in Connolly hide and Wilton carpeting and the Vintage Wireless Company supplied a HMV/Radiomobile unit. With the Sunbeam now of an incredibly high standard, it spent nine years in the hands of its fastidious owner.

In 2009 the Sunbeam was purchased by an Elgin based collector and enthusiast who has cherished the car over 16 years of enjoyable ownership. Although part of a large collection, the Sunbeam has been used for occasional shows, rallies and events in the North of Scotland. Since 2000 the car has covered little over 3000 miles and has arrived with us in exceptional condition. 401 EMC drives superbly, the 2267cc 80bhp engine performs incredibly well with impressive power, the four speed manual column change gearbox is a delight to use and with independent front suspension the Sunbeam feels fantastic on the road. It's difficult to believe how long ago this car was restored, it presents wonderful and needless to say we are delighted to have the opportunity of supplying this very rare car to its next custodian.
