Description

1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II SCT 100

Chassis number LCC.45 is one of the very rare, desirable LWB James Young aluminium bodied Rolls Royce Silver Cloud's. The chassis was delivered to James Young Coachbuilders on the 22nd August 1961 and the car was delivered by Jack Barclay Ltd to its first owner, Heritable & General Investment Bank Ltd, London on 9th March 1962, also of Berkeley Square, W1. The Rolls Royce was supplied in Tudor Grey with Beige leather, power assisted steering and division.

This stunning SCT 100 Rolls Royce covered very little mileage in and around London in its first thirteen years, changing hands for the first time in July 1975. We have an MOT certificate from 1975 to confirm the mileage was just 22,285. The second owner in Surrey did not keep the car long, and in September 1975 Jack Barclay Ltd sold the Rolls Royce to its third owner in Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA. We have records to confirm the Rolls Royce won a first in class at a Rolls Royce event in Dearborn, Michigan in 1977. By 1977 the Rolls Royce had covered 24000 miles.

The Rolls Royce returned to the UK in 1988 having been kept in lovely, original condition as expected when participating in club events. We know that since been back in the UK, the Rolls Royce has had relatively little use and has come to us with a recorded mileage of 58,000. Within the past 2500 miles, over £5000 has been spent with a Rolls Royce specialist on mechanical re-commissioning work, we have invoices for almost £3000 of this work. This programme of work included new rear brake linings, rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt wheel cylinders, new handbrake linkage bushes, two new brake drums and the servo was removed, cleaned, checked and the whole braking system bled. Over the past 12 months a further £20,000 has been spent on various work to include completely re-trimming the upholstery and taking the car to a truly exceptional standard. With new carpets, headlining, re-trimmed door cards and top class leather used for re-trimming the seats, the interior is wonderful still retaining beautiful woodwork. Recent mechanical work includes servicing the car and re-tempering the rear springs and a new full set of tyres have recently been fitted.

On the road OSU 116 is fabulous with a superb ride and excellent brakes. The engine performs faultlessly and runs beautifully holding particularly good oil pressure. The Rolls Royce has recently embarked on touring the West Coast of Scotland, covering in the region of 800 miles faultlessly. The gears change up and down smoothly, the performance is impressive, and the car offers a wonderful driving experience. OSU 116 presents beautifully with an exceptional, lovely deep paint finish, excellent straight body panels, deep, bright chromework and the upholstery is first class having been re-trimmed to a very high standard.
