A very nice solid low ownership car that was purchased by the current owner after an exhaustive search for the right car. The current owner who restored a show winning Jaguar E type has done assorted works to the car during his tenure as follows:
Rebuilt the rear shock absorbers with new style seals.
Replaced the rear boxes on the exhaust with stainless steel.
Removed and cleaned the fuel strainer filter
Rebuilt the carburettors with modern ethanol proof gaskets and seals and line reamed and fitted new bronze bushes
Removed the cylinder head to de coke it , & given a very light skim and reground the valves in and assembled with new gaskets and reset the valve clearances.
Sump taken off and cleaned and flushed the engine several times. The bores are in very good condition and the compressions are very good and even.
Replaced the plugs, distibutor cap rotor arm leads etc with new from flying spares.
We have also had the interior out when we first purchased it and had it re connolized.
We replaced all 5 tyres and powder coated the wheels and have spent quite a time adjusting the brakes & brake servo for the best performance.
Rebuilt the steering ram with new seals. & many more small jobs.
As a result the car is in perfect running condition. Being a late cloud it has the more powerful last of the line straight six engine which is in fine fettle. This is a later power steering equipped car with finger tip light steering making it a pleasure to manouever in tight spaces. It drives beautifully with ample perfomance delivered in absolute silence from the silky straight six engine.
The interior is excellent original grey leather along with finely figured burr walnut extending to the occasional tables in the back. Exterior paintwork is georgian silver over midnight blue & again in nice order. This is a garaged rot free solid car from low ownership & has covered just 75,000 miles from new. It drives beautifully as befitting of a low mile example & is a credit to its former long term owners the previous of whom it was purchased from at the national rally some years ago.
