Description

1925 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Torpedo Drophead Coupé by Manassius of Brussels.
Chassis number: 59LC
Registration number: TG30864 (Swiss)
Rolls Royce Chassis records show 59LC to have been ordered by the famous Russian Jacques Poberejsky, at the time Paris Mercedes Dealer. The car was dispatched at his behest in September of 1925 to Manessius of Brussels via Boulogne on the SS Whitgift. Manessius Constructed the rakish 4 seat drop head coupe Torpedo body we find on the car today. At one stage after the war the roof was sealed but then later again re-instated as a drop head.
The body was originallly schedulded to be a convertible but the chassis cards confirm this was changed to the elegant Torpedo coachwork as we find today. The completed car was sold to Belgium Aristocrat Clement Van der Stratten. The car has in recent years been subject of a full & thorough restoration to simply beautiful condition.
Finished in Deep aubergine coloured paintwork with polished Ace wheel discs, the car presents magnificently & has grandness & presence on the road. To the interior is Maroon hide in perfect condition along with brown carpets. A spectacular walnut dash is in situ displaying a full quotient of period instrumentation including a continental kilometer per hour speedometer as specified on the build sheets.
The car provides comfortable seating for 5 people & has a snug fitting hood providing complete protection when for the lucky occupants when up. A capacious boot to the rear completes the ensemble. The spare is mounted continental style to the rear. To the front are a very gallic pair of Phares Besnard headlamps.
Having driven this car long distance though the Swiss Alps I can attest to how well it goes. The engine is smooth silent & powerful; everything one expects from a new phantom indeed. Well detailed under the bonet the car is ready to be shown at any concours. The car is magnificent & a far cry from the more ordinary & run of the mill Phantoms one finds with heavy limousine bodies. It is in impeccable order as part of a small Swiss collection being sold from the estate of the former owner.
The car is Swiss Registered & swiss taxes paid.
