Description

The Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda: A place of worship for convertible fans.

In the early '60s, Walter Hitzinger, the head of Mercedes, sought a middle ground between the 300 SL Gullwing (slow-flying) and the 190 SL, which was essentially reserved for women with large sun hats. In 1963, they presented the W113, which was quickly nicknamed the "Pagoda" due to the shape of the hardtop that came with it for the winter months. Now, almost 60 years later, it is an absolute cult classic. We completely agree!

The chassis was a shortened version of the W111 S-class generation, featuring an M180 inline-six engine that was essentially a further developed aircraft engine. Extended nose, large Bakelite steering wheel, rear-wheel drive... Do we need to say more?

Ours? A neatly kept grau blau metallic on beige leather example that has happily clocked miles in the Netherlands for 25 years. Equipped with air conditioning, a Becker radio, a tracking system, cruise control, and a stainless steel exhaust system from front to back. In the Netherlands, it has always been maintained by a renowned Mercedes-Benz specialist who has blessed this example for its new adventure.

Shut up and take my money!
