History and production:
Mercedes-Benz presented the W113 at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 as the successor to two models: The 300 SL and the 190 SL were replaced by the roadster - known as the ‘Pagoda’ because of its hardtop roof shape. The W113 was the first SL with a safety body. The floor assembly, axles and steering were largely adopted from the W111 S-Class of the time.
From 19 63 to 1971, 48,912 units were produced.
About this car:
This 280 SL has been fully restored. In the course of the restoration, the manual gearbox was replaced by a five-speed manual gearbox. The colour scheme and engine correspond to the delivery (‘matching number’). The car has a condition like new.
This Pagoda is a special opportunity to acquire a very elaborately restored vehicle with a five-speed manual gearbox and hardtop in a very attractive colour combination.
