• No expense restoration by MC Wilkinson to SAYER specification
The Jaguar E-Type Coupe is one of the most iconic and desirable classic cars ever produced. When the Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1961, it stunned the world with its sleek, aerodynamic design, high performance, and relatively affordable price compared to other sportscars of its era. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, the E-Type's curvaceous bodywork was inspired by the company's racing heritage, particularly from the D-Type, and was lauded for its beauty, with the highest compliment being paid by Enzo Ferrari. The Series I is often considered the purest form of the E-Type with its lightweight monocoque construction and independent suspension, the E-Type could reach a top speed of 150mph, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. The interior of the Series I E-Type is just as impressive, featuring leather seats, toggle switches, and a stylish dashboard that oozes vintage charm. Its disc brakes, advanced for the time, gave the car impressive stopping power to match its speed. Today, the Jaguar E-Type Coupe is highly prized among car enthusiasts and collectors, a symbol of British automotive excellence and a timeless design masterpiece.
This stunning example of the Series I E-Type 4.2 'Fixedhead Coupe' is presented in Opalescent Blue with a contrasting blood red leather trim. Subject to no ordinary restoration, this is one of the few cars restored by Mike Wilkinson of MC Wilkinson to his 'SAYER standards' which in his own words is a no expense spared process for any client.
A UK right hand drive matching numbers example, the body was fully restored by MC Wilkinson to give the car, in effect, a brand-new show standard bodyshell. The floors, inner sills and outer sills were all Zinctec panels and the engine frames were also brand new to ensure the car's bodywork was restored to the highest standard possible before the shell was then repainted to 'show quality' inside and out prior to its mechanical rebuild. During the mechanical rebuild the engine, gearbox and differential were all rebuilt, the exhaust system replaced for a stainless steel item with six branch manifolds to suit all coupled to Denis Welsh fast road cams which were comprehensively set up on a rolling road by a SU Carb Specialist. The car had alloy uprated front brake calipers with new integral rear brake conversion, Sayer specification handling kit, full rebuilt show quality rear axle, fully rebuilt radiator with modern super-core, original alternator fully rebuilt, upgraded heater system, new fuel tank, triple plated chrome work throughout before being fully retrimmed to concourse standard.
This restoration was all completed in 2017 and within the paperwork file is a letter from Mike Wilkinson confirming the cars restoration and standards, in his own words 'the car is in effect a brand-new E-Type restored to our Sayer standard with no expenses spared, this is without question one of the finest E-Types we have restored'
This is a stunning example of a car that would have cost in excess of double our top estimate to create and having covered less than 5,000 miles since its rebuild at the hands of some of the country's leading specialists. Viewing is highly recommended, don't be fooled…this is no ordinary restoration. Consigned by Mathew Priddy.
