Description

This gorgeous Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 2+2 is a matching numbers RHD UK Home Market car that was manufactured on the 1st of October 1969 and supplied new by Henlys of London. The heritage certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust confirms the car left the factory in Signal Red paintwork with Black interior. ORO 8H is a stunning 2+2 with both a beautiful interior, fantastic exterior, and provides a brilliant driving experience. In 1987, when the E-Type had covered 49,000 miles, an extensive 500-hour rebuild was carried out by Sporting Autos, a British sports car specialist based in Kent. The report reads that ORO 8H was completely disassembled, with all mechanicals, space frame, interior, electrics, and hinged panels removed from the bare bodyshell. The shell and panels were taken back to bare metal, then acid dipped, any corrosion was removed and all the metal work was professionally repaired and lead loaded where necessary. The shell and panels were then fully prepared, treated for re-paint. With the vehicle all back together, any cavities were then waxoyled for preservation and the exterior was hand polished to achieve a beautiful finish. The entire mechanics of the car were either replaced or reconditioned then built back up before the interior was treated to a full retrim.

Over 40 years on since restoration and a further 36500 miles of regular use, by 2024 ORO 8H was ready for a cosmetic re-fresh. In total over £20,000 was spent on the E-Type, it was stripped down to the rolling shell and then prepared for a complete re-paint. The front and rear bumpers were sent for re-chroming and then the car was built back up to an exceptional standard. With the bright chrome work and superb paint finish, this Series II is an incredibly sharp, well-presented eye catching example. Having had a period of low use, the E-Type will be supplied by us fully serviced and will be fitted with a brand new set of tyres.

The comprehensive history file that accompanies this car holds detailed MOT history back to 1975 which renders the 85,500 miles displayed on the speedo as correct since the car was new. In the last 30 years the car has covered an average of 500 miles per year while being MOT tested regularly ensuring it has been kept in great condition. With the milage record, the extensive 500-hour rebuild, and recent level of recommissioning, it will come as no surprise that this E-Type is truly magnificent both in looks and driving performance.

ORO 8H is a brilliant 2+2 E-Type that has been both cherished and enjoyed on the UK roads since its manufacture. To take this car out in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire with the Britax sunroof open epitomises the enjoyment of a great classic British sportscar, the engine is very fit and holds great oil pressure, the gearbox is strong, and the steering and braking performance is sharp and responsive.
