Description

The 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is a true fifties American icon, known for its bold and optimistic design with wonderful use of chrome. Available with several engine options, including powerful V8s, It was part of Chevrolet’s “Tri-Five” lineup (1955-1957) and featured a more refined look than the 1955 model, with a distinctive full-width chrome grille, a revised hood ornament, and sleek side trims that emphasised its dramatic two-tone paint schemes.

Under the bonnet, the 1956 Bel Air offered a range of engine choices, including the base inline-six and multiple V8 options, such as the 265-cubic-inch (4.3L) small-block V8. The car was available with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, a 3-speed manual, or a 3-speed manual with overdrive. The interior of the Bel Air was designed with comfort in mind, featuring upgraded upholstery, a stylish dashboard, and modern conveniences for the era, such as an optional push-button radio and air conditioning.

This absolutely stunning example has been with just one owner in the UK since it was imported from Atlanta Georgia in 2011. It's a beautifully restored example in what appears to be Crocus yellow over Onyx black. At the time this was very good value for such a fine example at $33,000 but of course the buyer had to pay considerable transportation and import duty costs to bring it here to the UK as well as preparing it to UK MOT standard. Fitted with the powerglide automatic transmission, power steering, superb servo assisted brakes, air-conditioning and with the lusty 4.3 Litre V8 under the bonnet, the car drives as smooth as silk. It's a real credit to both the restorer and upkeep by the last owner. It comes with some useful spares and both a replica brochure, accessory leaflet and some period advertisements. A restoration to this standard today would cost a small fortune. Available at a fraction of the price of restoring one, this striking Bel Air is an absolute gem!
