Description

This stunning Caterham Super 7 HPC comes to us in immaculate condition having only covered 7,000 miles from new. P842 CPB presents in the fantastic BMW Arctic Grey Metallic with luxurious leather seats, and 16” silver alloy wheels making for a beautiful looking motor car. Caterham's are renowned for being remarkably quick and capable British sports cars, the HPC abbreviation in the title comes from when the new owners were required to take a High-Performance Driving Course in order to own one. Although in 1990 the course became optional, it was strongly advised due to the cars ability to get to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. 1990 also marked the year that Vauxhall became an engine supplier to Caterham, the HPC models changed from the crossflow Ford engine to the Vauxhall 2.0L Twin Cam 16v engine which boasted 165bhp which, when put in a lightweight machine provided exceptional torque and a fantastic power to weight ratio. Caterham saw an immense victory at the 24-hour endurance race ‘Longest Day of Nelson' in 1992 with their specially built HPC twin cam in Ohio. This victory proved the reliability and performance of the new formula for Caterhams Super 7 HPC model.

The original order form and invoice from Caterham Cars LTD in the file shows the specification for this Super 7 to include the 2.0 16v Twin Cam Vauxhall Engine, 6-speed gearbox, limited slip differential, leather dash kit, and Vecta Shadow Immobiliser. The order was dispatched to Redline Components, a Caterham and Lotus Specialist, who assembled this high spec stunning Caterham and then registered the car as new in 1996. P842 CPB lived a very sheltered, low usage, and well-maintained life in the 25-year period of the first owner. In 1997, It had its first service back at Caterham Cars LTD in Kent. The following service was carried out at 2725 miles where the cambelt was also replaced. Its most recent service was at 3679 miles with a Caterham Specialist where it had £1800 spent on the car to keep it performing faultlessly. As well as the major service, it had new fuel hoses, new coolant hoses, a new windscreen seal, new sump pan gasket, a new steering rack gaiter and a wheel alignment adjustment.

This Caterham HPC offers a supercar-like driving experience, an impeccable soundtrack of the 2L naturally aspirated engine, and great nimbleness on the country roads. If you're looking for a high performance, thrilling car, this Caterham Super 7 is the car to have.
