Few aircraft of the jet age are more instantly recognisable, or remembered, than the world-renowned Concorde. 50 years since its first flight, this supersonic passenger jet was the inspiration for the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Special Edition.

Strictly limited to only ten examples, of which only four cars were produced in right hand drive,  and featuring lavish personalisation via Aston Martin’s bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde proudly celebrates not only the half century since the iconic luxury passenger jet took to the skies, but also the centenary of one of Concorde’s two flag carrying airline operators: British Airways.

British Airways lead Concorde G-BOAC was captained by Mike Bannister between 1997 until its withdrawal from service in 2003. G-BOAC (Alpha Charlie) was considered the flagship of the fleet as she carried the registration plate BOAC. This aircraft on the 19th of December 1985 travelled at 1488mph, the highest recorded ground speed for a commercial airliner.

The incredible collaboration between two of the best-known British brands, British Airways and Aston Martin Lagonda, revered throughout the world, realised an exceptional way to celebrate the unbeatable achievements of Concorde as the fastest commercial airplane, with the creation of the Aston Martin Superleggera Concorde Edition.

Of the 10 Aston Martin Superleggera Concorde Special Editions produced, G-BOAC is also recognised as the flag ship in the series and the most collectable example.

The design detail, chosen materials, of which many of the Aston Martin’s Concorde touch points have utilised material used and taken from G-BOAC are unique and exquisite.

It takes the onlooker time to absorb so many of the important cues and features that subtly but convincingly link the car to the plane. On the road, the Aston Martin Concorde Edition was one of the fastest Aston models produced, capable of over 200mph.

With Concorde pilots being given the opportunity to own one of these elite special edition cars, it was an honour and privilege that the current owner of G-BOAC and longstanding VIP customer of Aston Martin was afforded the opportunity to secure the flagship designation number of the 10 cars produced.

G-BOAC was chosen, both because it was the mother of the fleet, but also due to it being the preferred call-sign for the late HRH Queen Elizabeth 11, and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Interestingly The Beatles also flew on G-BOAC, making this Concorde the tail number of choice.

The car is located at Aston Martin Bristol (Dick Lovett), this being the concept and birthplace of the collaboration between Aston Martin Lagonda and British Airways.

The car will be sold with be supplied fully serviced and with a Aston Martin dealer warranty and full health check.
