Registration number: UE-36-01

Trade-in car. Heinkel Flugzeugwerke from Germany started producing scooters after World War II, of which the Tourist was the most successful model. As you would expect from a German aircraft manufacturer, the machine was carefully designed: with an OHV 4-stroke engine, fan cooling, electric dynamotor starter and luggage space under the seat (rare for that time). It was a truly quality product.
Heinkel is a historic brand of aircraft, mopeds, scooters and midget cars.
The biggest change compared to its predecessor in this type was the steering wheel. While all predecessors were still equipped with a chromed "bicycle" handlebar, with this type the handlebar was provided with plating. The speedometer/odometer was placed in the steering wheel. This made it possible to eliminate the “box” for the knee shield, giving the driver more legroom. The ignition lock, which was placed in the knee shield, was combined with the light switch. The engine was no longer rigidly mounted to the frame, but was mounted in rubbers, which improved driving comfort.
95 scooters of this type were made per day in the Heinkel factory. A total of 50,050 of this type were made. The buyer had the choice between the following color combinations: light gray-dark gray with gray saddle, completely black with red saddle, red-black with black saddle, sahara yellow-black with black saddle, black-gray with gray saddle, completely red with gray saddle and red-gray with gray saddle. Accessories included crash bars and wind deflectors.
If you planned to make long journeys with the scooter, you could purchase a sealed package of spare parts from the Heinkel factory. If you did not use this package, you could send it back to the factory and get your money back.
This Heinkel 103A-1 from 1960, originally delivered in the Netherlands, with only 54,081 kilometers, can be called very unique. Production was from 1957 to 1960, so this is one of the last Heinkel 103A-1 produced. Supplied in dark gray with light gray. With a beautiful original patina! And completely complete with all accessories.
The Scooter is equipped with a cylinder capacity: 173 cc with 9.5 HP, good for a top speed of 93 kilometers per hour. That's the nice thing about these scooters, they don't need much for appealing performance because they don't have to carry almost any weight.
